BROOKLYN PEACE FAIR, October 22, 2006

We were able to hang all 156 panels at the Brooklyn Peace Fair last Sunday, October 22 at the Long Island University Brooklyn campus. 156 represents only those who were killed until the end of June, 2006. We are preparing several hundred more names and faces for printing and lamination which will bring the total to an even more horrible number.

We couldn't have done it without the help of wonderful volunteers and our own members, whom you can see in the pictures below.



The Honor the Fallen memorial is becoming a larger and larger project every day. These pictures illustrate what is involved in hanging them--you can see the unfolding of our work in progress.






But it was a gratifying experience and we all felt the time we spent, essentially the whole day, was well worth it because so many people came to the Peace Fair and saw it. Here are some of them.











This woman wanted to be photographed against the
panel bearing the picture of her dead brother.

The American Friends Service Committee brought part of their
"Eyes Wide Open" project: 130 pairs of boots
belonging to soldiers from New York State who were killed in Iraq.
