North Fork People of Conscience is a co-sponsor of the Peace Procession organized by Pax Christi to be held at Jones Beach on May 26. We urge you to join in with this Memorial Day event.

From Pax Christi:
The American people dedicated Memorial Day as a time to mourn the victims of war.

In that spirit, Pax Christi invites you to gather with Long Island peace groups at Jones Beach from 10 AM until noon on Saturday May 26, for a solemn procession and recitation of the names of Americans and Iraqis who have been killed in the war.

We will assemble at the western end of Parking Field 2, which faces the ocean. As we process east toward the needle and the main mall, we will carry the Memorial Ribbons and pause at intervals along the boardwalk to read the list of names. Everyone is welcome to participate in this peace action. However as this is a solemn procession, no signs will be used.

Co-sponsors: (in formation) Long Island Alliance for Peace, LI Veterans for Peace Chapter 138, Code Pink LI, Suffolk Peace Network, South Country Peace Group, St. Anthony’s Peace and Justice Committee, Pax Christi Long Beach, Schools of the Americas Watch, OLMCC Peace and Justice, North Fork People of Conscience, Ethical Action Committee of the EHS
There is a fee of $ 9 per car to enter the Parking Field
